SUMMARY OF PURPOSE/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual will be responsible for writing and/or revising procedures, reports, protocols, and/or training modules, performing technical processes including assays, recording data in specified formats and/or maintaining a lab notebook detailing day-to-day testing; reporting results of analytical assay using written, oral, or graphic presentation, monitoring, ordering and/or receiving delivery of laboratory supplies and equipment, responsible for and/or performing lab and/or facility housekeeping and maintenance, ensures that security and safety procedures and protocols are being observed and followed. May be responsible for providing leadership & training to other technicians.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • 5% Writes and/or revises procedures, reports, protocols and/or training modules
  • 65% Performs technical processes including RNA extractions and qRT-PCR assays, functional assays, or ELISAs
  • 10% Records data in specified formats and/or maintains a lab notebook detailing day-to-day testing; reports results of analytical assay using written, oral, or graphic presentation.
  • 5% Monitors, orders and/or receives delivery of, laboratory supplies and equipments
  • 5% Responsible for and/or performs lab and/or facility housekeeping and maintenance
  • 5% Provide leadership and trainging to other technicians
  • 5% Ensures that security and safety procedures and protocols are observed and followed


CONTEXT OF THE JOB/MAJOR CHALLENGES: This position will be involved in testing clinical serum samples for the presence of antibodies against specific viruses, using functional assays or ELISAs designed to identify the agents. For the functional assays , the applicant should be well versed in cell culture and aseptic technique. Any prior experience with plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT) would be a plus. For the ELISA group, prior ELISA experience is required. Applicant must be capable of working both independently and as part of a carefully scheduled matrixed team.

DIMENSIONS/SCOPE: This position requires no budgetary responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education/experience
  • (Minimum) Bachelor of Science Degree, specializing in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry
  • (Preferred) Master of Science Degree, specializing in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry
  • 1-2 years related experience (BS), or 1-4 years related experience (MS)
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the GMPs for US, Canada and Europe
  • Good English level needed
